Evan's Last day of school celebration June 21, 2012

Evan is moving from 2nd to 3rd grade and to a new school with a new teacher as his current classroom is only a 1st/2nd grade class. I am sad because we love his teacher and para educators that he has been with. Hopefully, all will go well in the new class.
Evan's teacher put on a little graduation celebration for the kids.
They all sang a cute little song about graduation. During the song Evan got distracted by a fly.

But he was really trying to do the hand movements for the song.

This is Evan getting his certificate.
Evan's teacher has a daughter in college and she would come and help in the classroom alot. Especially when she was out of school.
She made this awesome cake for the party. It was a rainbow cake.
Giving Ms. Sparman the quilt I made of all of the kids for her.
 Evan and his friend Amanda
Evan and his para educator Ms. Shahira
Ms. Sparmanis just as sad to see us go.
Giving his friend Jacob a hug. They are so sweet
Evan and Ms. Sparman's daughter Maddie
Evan and Mrs. Padilla the other para educator.

I am hopeful that his new classroom will work out great once we all get adjusted to it. His teacher has heard great things about the new teacher and many of her kids have gone to this classroom for 3rd/4th grade.

Fun at the park

For the last 4 weeks of school we went to the park on Friday mornings with Evan's class.

He loved going down this big slide. He had to work to get up to it so it was a great accomplishment
Getting help climbing the rock wall. It is always a 2 person job to get Evan up climbing things like this. It was nice to have extra help.
Gabriel came one friday and was so tired he fell asleep on the bench.
Climbing up the ladder. Week 1 he needed help by week 3 he was doing it all by himself.
From climbing up the ladder to getting himself up to the platform.
Evan and his friend. They both use communication devices.

Field Day at Evan's School June 2012

Evan had field day at his school the last week of school. It consisted of 10 stations that the kids rotated to. I took Evan through his stations since he would need full assistance. We were with another 1st grade class. I will admit it was hard seeing his differences in comparison to a group full of typical kids.
He did great on the balance boards

He loved the water play station. First you had to fill up a sponge with water and then run to the other bucket and squeeze it out. The group who had the most water in the bucket won.
It was a great game for him because he understood the concept and was excited to do it.

Being Goofy!!

Update on our family

Things are going well with our family as a whole. Rudy is still working with Ecolab & got a promotion so he a trainer. He has to work the night shift which I hate but we adjust to it. I'm still keeping busy with Evan and Gabriel. Although, Evan keeps me a lot busier than Gabriel.
Cynthia is living with Rudy's mom, going to school & volunteering at a nursing home until she can find a job.
Gabriel will be entering 6th grade in August! He is in Tae Kwon Do & loves it.
Evan will be in 3rd grade at a new school this year. He is doing well in most areas. We are battling seizures right now. You can read more about his special needs on my other blog- Evan's Journey.

2011 Happenings

It has been since December 2010 that I have posted so I am going to give a quick update on what happened in our family in the last 9 months. First of all I am so happy to report that Evan has been mostly seizure free since November 1, 2010.  We are so happy with the decision to place his G tube and it has been the best thing for him. No more worries about meds etc. He has had a few suspicious events that could be seizures but I am not for sure. We see his neuro next week so we will see if he wants to look into it further. I am fine if he has these weird little episodes and that is it. A girl can dream right? Evan had a bit of a rough fall and winter in 2010 but things are going so well right now. I hope this continues. So now onto the important part. The fun of pictures.

January 2011

The Bon Family(minus Greg, Alicia & Sophia)
We took a trip to Auntie Karen and Uncle Gary's for our annual Christmas and Snow fun. We went to Pinecrest lake and it was so cool to see the frozen lake.
Celeste and Evan did a lot of sledding together. Evan LOVED It.

Just look at that face

I love this pic of Evan. He is all bundled up in his snow gear.

Going down the hill. The lake was the best place for playing in the snow!!!

Gabriel and Nathan are quite a pair!

My handsome boy.

Cynthia also turned 19 on January 7th. We took her out to dinner for her birthday. Where has the time gone. I remember she was 3years old when I first met her. In January Cynthia was living with her mom in Citrus Heights and going to the local community college. We are so proud of her.

February 2011

February was a hectic month. Gabriel had his 10th birthday party. I can't believe my baby boy is in double digits now. Evan had a rough month in February, he ended up with 2 respiratory infections with asthma. He was on 6 different courses of antibiotics from November to February.

Singing Happy Birthday

Evan and Celeste spent a lot of time in the backyard swinging. Evan would count 1-2-3 and then they would swing.

March 2011

March was a good month as well. Rudy, Cynthia and Gabriel headed up to camp Alta for the weekend. There was soo much snow. Evan and I hung out at home.

April 2011
Evan started his 3rd season of Rivercats Independence field baseball. He again loved it. We missed a few games due to illness and the crazy weather we had in the spring months. I love seeing Evan get to play a game that he loves. I enjoy seeing our friends and their kiddos as well. We have a great group of families who play baseball. Evan got to visit with the Budweiser Clydesdales when they were visiting at Project RIDE. We had Easter of course and then Evan got to ride his bike too. It was amazing to see all of the progress he has made on the bike in the couple years he has had it.

Up at bat for his first game of his 3rd season of baseball

The Budweiser Clydesdales came to Project Ride and we got to go visit them.
In this pic Evan is trying to call a cat to come to him. He is so cute.

Petting a horse

Evan and Camden getting ready to make their own horses

Just trying to get a pic that shows the height of these horses. Almost to the top of the stall

Evan showing off the horse he made. He was so excited and had a great time.

Easter 2011- Me and the boys

Evan egg hunting

Evan was a lot slower as he had to set his basket down and then put the egg in it. Rudy ended up just holding his basket for him.

Finding another egg

Trying to get a good pic of the boys

Gabriel's turn to egg hunt.

Grandma and Grandpa with their Grand children. 6 of them here. Cynthia was not here and in August and October we will have 2 more. That makes 9.

Sweet Sophia being silly

The weather was so nice we pulled out Evan's bike. He has made huge strides this year in riding his bike. He even had a cast on.

 May 2011

What can you say about May? I think at this point I was concerned with Evan being so tired, he was falling asleep in school & not wanting to go play outside. We did numerous tests and figured out that he has a low thyroid. He is on medication for that and it has helped for sure. May 20th was the last day of school for Gabriel and some other friends. So I mowed the lawn and then turned on the sprinklers and that got the kids asking to play in the sprinklers and then we turned on the hose. It was so fun to see kids playing outside and being kids.

Evan got a hold of the hose and nobody was safe. LOL

May 29, 2011 was the Angel day for our dear sweet friend Dylan. His Mom and Dad asked that all of his friends and family blow bubbles to honor his memory. We could not make it to the cemetery to be with everyone so we did our bubbles from home. We will always remember him.
 June 2011
One of the highlights of our time in June was going to Six Flags with our friends the Kiesels. It was so much fun.

Gabe and Evan on the swings

Evan was so excited to drive the train, I felt bad for the other kids in the engine because Evan was pulling the bell rope the whole time.

Evan and Connor patiently waiting for lunch.

Evan must have thought he was in heaven with this huge bag of popcorn.

Another for Sweet Dylan. Evan is trying hard to blow the bubble on his own.

Well, I think I will end this post now and update the rest of the months in another post.
