Ramblings

Just a few things to ramble about.

So yesterday marked 2 weeks that Evan has been on Depakote. His Dr. ordered a Depakote level to be checked after he had been on it for two weeks. So since he stayed home from school on Wednesday I took him in to get the levels done. I guess the level was only 39 so we are increasing his doses. In the AM he will still take two tablets but in the PM he will take 4 tablets. I am trying to be creative on how to hide the medicine so that Evan will eat whatever it is in. We started with peanut butter and applesauce and now there are only three things that will work and those are pudding, yogurt and ice cream. So that means I have to be stocked up on these items so that I can make sure Evan gets his medication.

As far as Evan's seizures go, I still think he is having them at night. I actually think he had a small one last night around 11pm when he woke up, who knows. I am in a state of almost constant worry about them. I am trying not to think of it so much though. Although, that is much easier said than done.

School is going great for Evan. He missed two days this week because he was sick with a cold and cough. Now he has just more of the cough left. All of his therapies have started except for OT, but I was expecting that since the program specialist said that they are short for OT's this year. I really like his teacher and the classroom and I am excited for what is to come this year. Cynthia and Gabriel are into the swing of school really well this year also. Cynthia has a lot of things to do this year such as take the SAT's, apply for college, pass driver education, take driver training and get her driver's license. And if she wants to drive she will also have to get a job.

Graduation Day!

Well, back in September of 2002 I began going to school

for my bachelor degree at University of Phoenix where I worked,

it was great because the education was free. I had about 4 years of schooling

since I transferred in only 6 credits so I was basically starting from the beginning and having to earn the full 120 credits to get a Bachelor degree. Well, when things started getting crazy with Evan and such, I took a few breaks and finally I am almost done. I just have 4 weeks left in my last class and then I will have my degree which will be a Bachelor of Science in Business Management/Marketing.

Saturday was the commencement ceremony. It was so exciting. I used to work for University of Phoenix so I worked at 4 of the commencements and it was so exciting to know that one day I would be a participant. It was so fun yesterday. I got to see some old friends/co-workers that I hand not seen on over 2 years. Then we had a party at my mom's house and many of my family members attended and some of my friends. Thanks Lisa, Karen and Kim for celebrating my special day.

Here is the family. Aren't my boys so handsome?

I got Cynthia a new dress just for this occasion. Rudy should

be graduating next year.

My sister and I

My parents-Thanks for Hosting the party
My Grandma- she is so sweet.

My Aunt Karen & Uncle Gary-they are like second
parents and came down from the mountains to celebrate.
My nieces Mia and Celeste
The cake, Gabe is an inspiring graduate.
So I am contemplating going back for my Master in Special Education, I think I might be crazy but now would be a great time because then I could get a good job once Evan is in first grade. I might start in January. We will just have to see.

First Day of School

Cynthia - started 11th grade this year, I cannot believe it.
She is taking driver's education at school, so she will be
driving once she finishes that and takes the training
courses and of course gets a job to pay for gas and insurance.

Gabriel started 2nd grade this year. He has the same teacher as last year
and has taken a new liking to reading Dr. Suess books.
I am going to start him on chapter books because he needs
more of a challenge.

And last but not least my sweet little Evan started his 2nd year
of preschool and this is at a Headstart preschool. There are 15 typical kids,
5 special needs kids with a special ed teacher and 3 para educators plus the staff for the typical kids.
I just feel like he is really going to blossom in this environment.
